Meet Our Daughter!

After a four year gestation, we are so happy to announce the arrival into our lives of our daughter!
She was born on February 11, 2009, and is 8 months old.
She is from Chongqing City, which is in Southwest China.
We're working on a name.  Four years apparently wasn't enough time to figure that out.  :)

We expect to be traveling in 5-6 weeks, and promise to keep you updated as we get more information!  Please check back soon--we will post more information tomorrow when we receive her file!

Thank you to everyone for supporting us on this journey!!!

xoxo-c and t

Laura and I couldn't be happier for the two of you. Rule one: spoil her every day; Rule two: tell you you love her everyday; and Rule three: Make sure to hug and kiss her everyday for as long as she lets you. Pictures...we'll want pictures. All our love for you and your beautiful daughter.

  16. From the very bottom of our hearts, we are so happy for you! Here is one of my favorite poems by George MacDonald

With love from the Jakl family

Where did you come from, baby dear?
Out of the everywhere into the here.

Where did you get your eyes so blue?
Out of the sky as I came through.

What makes the light in them sparkle and spin?
Some of the starry spikes left in.

Where did you get that little tear?
I found it waiting when I got here.

What makes your forehead so smooth and high?
A soft hand stroked it as I went by.

What makes your cheek like a warm white rose?
I saw something better than anyone knows.

Whence that three-cornered smile of bliss?
Three angels gave me at once a kiss.

Where did you get this pearly ear?
God spoke, and it came out to hear.

Where did you get those arms and hands?
Love made itself into hooks and bands.

Feet, whence did you come, you darling things?
From the same box as the cherubs' wings.

How did they all just come to be you?
God thought about me, and so I grew.

But how did you come to us, you dear?
God thought about you, and so I am here.

  18. Congratulations!!! She's so beautiful!

On Sept. 17, my husband and I accepted the referral of a beautiful 15 month old baby girl (through the SN program) who is also from the Dianjiang SWI!!! Our agency's China coordinator told us that DJ SWI is a really great orphanage and that they love and take great care of all of the children. She also said that all the girls tend to have big sparkly eyes. :)

I'm very excited for you! The DJ SWI yahoo group is also really fantastic. Hope to see you there soon!

  23. What a lucky girl, to be Simon's new best buddy! She is dreamy, and we are so thrilled for you, beyond words. Thank you both for sharing your personal and intense journey, and for having it open up opportunities for us as individuals, families and community to learn, grow and (well you know the rest) .....together. This is one special and amazing girl, and you are two special and amazing people who will be absolutely incredible parents, Mazel Tov! What a blessing she is. Little whatever the heck her name is ;-)... With much love, Rebecca and Joel
